ARTIST DIANE BENN
Getting Arty at the Old Millhouse – Interested in art? Want to try? Want to improve? Local artist Diane Benn will be on hand to run a tailor-made class for you and your group. Choose from portraiture, still life landscape or figure drawing, developing skills in drawing, charcoal and paint.
- Landscaping: the Old Millhouse sits in beautifully wooded surroundings which will be perfect for sketching outdoors.
- Portraiture: working from the model (members of the group can take it in turns to sit) we will explore drawing and painting the face to achieve a convincing likeness.
- Still-life/flower painting: develop your skills of observing and recording inanimate objects over a day or number of days to really hone your abilities.
- Figure Drawing: working from the supplied model (clothed/unclothed), we will look at anatomy and how the body works in a defined ‘space’.
Diane is a figurative artist, but can also lead classes in abstract art (developing themes) if required, and she is available on commission to create your bespoke painting.
EDINBURGH WHISKY ACADEMY
The Edinburgh Whisky Academy is Scotland’s first and only SQA-accredited centre of learning for whisky education. Physiotherapist Led Pilates
One hour small group or 1:1 Pilates are available, held outside by the spa or in the orangery. This includes ten minutes of relaxation for the mind and body.
The session caters for all abilities from complete beginners to those with Pilates experience. It involves exercises which are performed both in standing and lying on the mat. Pilates exercises are designed to promote core stability, flexibility, endurance, and postural awareness. Resistance bands and small balls are used to help promote strength and flexibility.
This will be led by Chartered and HCPC Registered Physiotherapist, Michelle Bowen, owner of Eskbank Physiotherapy and Pilates .

Fort Douglas at Dalkeith Country Park

Set in 1,000 acres and home to Fort Douglas adventure park and Restoration Yard Store, Restaurant and Wellbeing Lab, it’s a place to explore, to have some fun. Fort Douglas adventure park is perfect for toddlers and children up to the age of 12. Explore huge treehouses, whoosh along zip wires, discover secret tunnels and brave the new Sky Maze with its invisible floor and HUGE slides! Plus, adults can go on everything too so the whole family can play together. Yipee!
Alba Game Fishing
Our partners Alba Game Fishing provide luxury fishing trips and mixed fishing and touring activities throughout Scotland.
